Objective

After completing the course,
- you have increased your expertise in various stages of ceramics manufacturing (craft, not industry).
- you have strengthened your expertise in the selected area of ceramics manufacturing according to your own interest.
- you have become familiar with the process of firing ceramics and learned how to use a pottery kiln.

Content

How can I make ceramic objects and sculptures out of clay?
How do I choose the appropriate materials and working techniques to achieve the desired result?
Where do I look for information to help my own learning?
How does the firing of ceramics occur?

The course program has two parts. In the beginning, we will get acquainted with the basics of clay as a material for ceramics, go through the various techniques of hand-building, as well as practicing the surface treatment of ceramics (e.g. glazing) and ceramic firing process. Approximately halfway through the course, everyone chooses their own special interest in making ceramics (e.g. ceramic sculpture, throwing technique, use of engobe, etc.) and plans and implements their own small learning project.

The course includes costs, as each student pays for the materials they use (clays, glazes, etc.).
