Objective

After the course you can:
- calculate the power of heat exchangers in a power plant and the efficiency of a boiler
- calculate the reactions of combustion and emissions
- explain the characteristics of the various boiler types and operating principles
- explain boiler use and operation.

Content

How is the power plant boiler efficiency calculated and how are the boiler heat exchangers designed?
What are the chemical reactions of combustion and what emissions do they form?
What is the meaning of boiler operation and real-time condition monitoring?
What are the most common boiler types?
What is meant by boiler preservation, pickling and magnetite film run?

Course material

The study material is announced on the Learn platform of the course.

Study forms and methods

When you register for this course, you participate in the teaching and guidance according to the work schedule. Your studies are rhythmic according to group meetings and independent learning tasks according to the work schedule.

When studying in all ways, final exams are taken in the chemistry section and the theory section.

RDI and work-related cooperation

The course does not usually include RDI and working life cooperation. Depending on the situation of R&D projects and companies, some training tasks may be assignments.

Timing of exams and assignments

The chemistry part and the theory part have their own exams.

Arviointi koostuu opintojaksosta riippuen kokeista, harjoitustöistä, kotitehtävistä ja laboratoriotöistä.

Qualifications

Requires basic knowledge of energy technology, mathematics and physics (solving equations, basic units, units)
