Objective

1. You can actively use and develop your English skills in your work and professional field as well as develop communication in English in your organisation.
2. You can interact in English in different oral and written communication situations in your own professional field
3. You can look for and evaluate scientific and professional information in the English sources of your own professional field and are able to apply the information to various communication situations in working life

Content

During the course you will learn professional English needed at work. You will follow your individual learning path based on your work or thesis. You have a chance to brush up your English and learn the the language needed in your own work and professional field. You will be working together with other students to practice your speaking and writing skills in many different ways.

All tasks and assignments are connected to the student's own work and/or studies and thus form an individual learning path.

Timing of exams and assignments

Assessment is based on the tasks. The course includes four compulsory live online classes.

Course part description

During the course you will learn professional English needed at work. Your main learning objectives are:

- You can actively use and develop your English skills in your work and professional field as well as develop communication in English in your organisation.
- You can interact in English in different oral and written communication situations in your own professional field
- You can look for and evaluate scientific and professional information in the English sources of your own professional field and are able to apply the information to various communication situations in working life

Your studies include 5 modules
Module 1 - Work and organisation
Module 2 - Research articles
Module 3 - The case
Module 4 - International networks
Module 5 - Presenting the case

Each Module is worth 1 credit. You can take 1-5 credits depending on your needs.

Further information

These are master's level studies and require B1+-B2 level skills. For bachelor's level students passing the 5 cr professional English course is a prerequisite.

Grading is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: B1 grade 1-2, B2 grade 3-4, C1 grade 5.

Qualifications

Successful completion of the course requires B2-level before entering the course.
