Objective
After the completion of the course,
- you are able to communicate in Finnish in some basic everyday situations
- you can use simple phrases, express statements and ask questions and you know basic vocabulary
- you are familiar with some key features of the Finnish grammar
- you can pronounce and write simple phrases Finnish
- you can apply your skills in practice
- you are able to independently expand your vocabulary resources and improve your Finnish skills using different sources.

Study forms and methods
This course is available for students who have no prior Finnish skills.
The course will be carried out by means of independent online studies. The course is intended to be completed within two months.
The teacher will be available online in real-time approximately once a month (vacations excluded).
RDI and work-related cooperation
Generic skills for working life. When possible there will be training of branch connected vocabulary and communication situations.
Timing of exams and assignments
All the assignments must be submitted within two months. There are assignments and tests to complete, including final assignments, a final exam and a learning diary.

2 ECTS credits = around 54 hours of independent work (reading/watching/listening study material, rehearsal activities, assignments).
Course part description
The course consists of six sections: Alphabet and pronunciation, Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Vocabulary task, Chapter 3, and Final assignments and exam.
Further information
Requires good independent study skills since real-time teacher participation is very minimal. Attending the course requires English skills enabling academic studies and some IT-skills.
