Objective
After the completion of the course,
- you are able to communicate in Finnish in various basic everyday situations
- you can use appropriate phrases and vocabulary
- you are familiar with the key features of the Finnish language, grammar and culture
- you can apply your skills in practice, both orally and in writing
- you are able to independently expand your vocabulary resources and improve your Finnish skills using different sources.

- simple communication, conversations and writing tasks related to e.g., activities and service encounters (e.g., shopping and eating out)
- essential grammar themes related to the communicative content of the course
- online learning in Learn (Xamk Moodle) environment

- Around 81 hours of independent work (reading/watching/listening study material, rehearsal activities, assignments)

Study forms and methods
This course is available for students who have completed the course Beginners' Finnish 1 (2 ECTS) or who have corresponding skills..
The course will be carried out by means of independent online studies. The course is intended to be completed within three months.
The teacher will be available online in real-time approximately once a month (vacations excluded).
RDI and work-related cooperation
Generic skills for working life. When possible there will be training of branch connected vocabulary and communication situations.
Timing of exams and assignments
All the assignments must be submitted within three months. There are assignments and tests and a final exam.
Student workload
3 ECTS credits = around 81 hours of independent work (reading/watching/listening study material, rehearsal activities, assignments).
Further information
Requires good independent study skills since real-time teacher participation is very minimal. Attending the course requires English skills enabling academic studies and some IT-skills.

The assessment is based on the activities and assignments completed successfully within the given schedule.
Qualifications
Beginners’ Finnish 1 or corresponding skills in the Finnish language. In addition, attending the course requires English skills enabling academic studies, some IT skills and a good command of independent studying.
