Objective

You have knowledge of basic structures and properties of organic compounds and their functional groups.
You know how to name and draw organic compounds. You recognize the most important biological macromolecules and learn to see their importance to health and environment.
You become familiar with biochemical reactions in human cells and in environment as well as biochemical and biotechnical processes and applications.

Content

How do you identify and name organic compounds?
What are the properties of most important functional groups and what is their significance in environment?
How does metabolism function in a cell?
What do enzyme kinetics and metabolism of foreign substances mean in cells and in environment?
How is biochemistry applied to various professional fields?
