Objective
Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- basic knowledge of maintenance in general
- safe maintenance and repair procedures onboard
- preparing for and operations during periodical dockings as well as all the responsibilities involved in maintenance in co-operation with the technical department of shipping company
- shipyard procedures and ships survey in general

- preliminary organization of safe maintenance and repair procedures during operation
- planning and organization of docking
- operations and responsibilities during docking
- preparation of maintenance and repair specifications
- division of responsibilities between different parties, rights and duties
- ships survey and classification by classification society

Study forms and methods
You will attend teaching and guidance sessions as specified in the schedule. Teaching in class, visit to ship repair yard.
Independent track:
Degree of Deck Officer, operational level (STCW A-II/1) OR Degree of Engineer Officer, operational level (STCW A-III/1) OR Certificate of Competency: Deck Officer / Engineer Officer IS REQUIRED.
Blended track:
Discussion with the teacher and, where appropriate, PSP-planning with your own mentor teacher.
