Objective
You are able to actively use the basic professional vocabulary of your field.
You are able to look for information in English in professional sources and apply it in different study and work related communication situations.
You are able to communicate in English in various spoken and written situations in your professional field at the European level B2.
Content
What professional vocabulary is essential in your professional field?
How to look for information in professional sources in English and how to apply this information?
How to interact in spoken communication situations in English and how to draw up texts in English for professional purposes?
How to communicate in study-related situations and work communities in English?
Course material
The study material will be published in the Learn platform at the start of the course.
Study forms and methods
• The course is primarily conducted as independent online studies, but it also includes four scheduled remote synchronous teaching sessions. During remote teaching sessions, work is done in groups and active participation is required. Participation in remote teaching sessions is essential. Teacher guidance is available during remote teaching sessions.
• The course takes place in the Learn platform. Access to the course platform opens at the latest on the start date of the course. Remote teaching sessions are mainly held from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Participation requires, in addition to an internet connection, video and audio connection.
• The tasks to be assessed are done independently. Tasks must be submitted according to the given schedule.

Timing of exams and assignments
During the course, learning tasks are completed independently every week. Some of the learning tasks are evaluated and at the end of the course, an online exam is taken in an EXAM room, as well as an oral exam via Teams. The course ends at the time announced in the course information, by which all learning tasks, exams, and other tasks related to the completion of the course must be completed.
Student workload
For a 5-credit course, the student's workload is approximately 135 hours.

Ability to communicate in English orally and in writing in various situations in the professional field mainly at the European (CEFR) level B1.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Ability to communicate in English orally and in writing in various situations in the professional field mainly at the European (CEFR) level B2.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Ability to communicate in English orally and in writing in various situations in the professional field mainly at the European (CEFR) level C1.
Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation is made in relation to the learning objectives and assessment criteria of the course. The successful completion of the course requires the completion of learning tasks and exams with an approved grade.
Qualifications
If you have been instructed to participate in the Intensive course in English, you must complete it or independently acquire the equivalent knowledge and skills before you can participate in this course.
