You know the values that appreciative encounters base on.
You understand the basic principles of professional interaction.
You identify the characteristics of genuine dialogue and the special features of meeting different groups of people.

What factors make up professional interaction?
What is meant by appreciative encounters?
How does dialogue differ from ordinary conversation?
How can dialogue be achieved in online encounters?
What kind of methods can be used to facilitate dialogic encounters?

Course material

The student is required to study the following literature/The following literature is used in the course

• Jenkins, J., 2003. World Englishes. A resource book for students. London: Routledge.
• Plag, I., Braun, M., Lappe, S., & Schramm, M. 2009. Introduction to English linguistics (2nd ed.). Berlin: Mouton de Guyter.
Other study materials are provided by the teacher in class or via the Learn platform.

Study forms and methods

• The course is carried out entirely by way of unscheduled online study. / The course is mainly carried out by way of unscheduled online study but it also has XX scheduled online lessons. The scheduled online lessons entail work in groups / require active participation. Participation in scheduled online lessons is mandatory/not mandatory. Participation in the start session is mandatory. The teacher provides guidance during scheduled online lessons and ....

RDI and work-related cooperation

Guest lectures will be given by representatives from the world of work.
Company visits are made and/or simulation exercises are performed.
The assignments are based on the needs of operators in the field.
A project assignment is completed in groups. (Describe in more detail)
Assignments can be completed with reference to tasks given by one’s employer or in connection to developing a product.

Timing of exams and assignments

Specify the scheduling of assignments and exams. An assignment must be completed at the end of each section of the course, and an online exam must be taken at the end of the course. / At the end of the course, an exam must be taken on campus via the Exam system. / The end date of the course is presented in the course details. By this date, the student must submit all assignments, take the required exams and meet all other conditions set for an approved course completion. / The course is completed by assignments that are assessed according to specified criteria. There is no exam in this course.
