Objective

You know what geospatial data, geographic information systems (GIS) and remote
sensing methods mean.
You can describe how to use such systems.
You can collect geospatial data and make digital maps.
You know how to make information queries and analyses using geospatial data.
You can use geospatial data in environmental research.

Content

What are geospatial data and geographic information systems (GIS).
How can remote sensing and global position systems be utilized?
How is geospatial data collected and how are digital maps made?
How is geospatial data used in environmental research?
What are the development visions in the field of GIS and remote sensing?

Course material

The license to related software will be provided and materials are provided via Learn platform of the course.

Study forms and methods

The course is conducted in the form of contact teaching with Scheduled Track. The students need to participate in the classroom activities where the problem/project related to the topic is discussed and solved together in a seminar-based setting in accordance with the schedule.
For better follow up of course activities, additional remote teaching sessions could be organised.

RDI and work-related cooperation

We will use various data set from international and national space agencies.

Timing of exams and assignments

There will be mandatory assignments with deadlines ranging between two to three weeks from the start date which is the date of seminar for the specific topic. Exam will be conducted at the end of the course in a form of Learn exam. More details of assignments and exams will be agreed on the first day of the course.
