Objective

Nursing in mental health care
You can apply knowledge on common mental disorders and psychiatric illnesses to nursing.
You master the common nursing methods and medication in treating mental disorders and psychiatric illnesses.
You can carry out the medication of mental disorders and psychiatric illnesses.
You are capable to communicate professionally and with the nursing viewpoint with customers/patients of different ages and backgrounds and their families.
You are capable to apply evidence-based knowledge to mental health care, substance abuse care and acute crisis care.

Substance abuse care
You master the common methods in substance abuse care.

Study forms and methods

The course is mainly implemented as time-free online teaching for the theory (4 ECTS), but it also includes time-bound distance learning sessions. Participation in distance learning sessions is voluntary. The course involves a voluntary start meeting for everyone in the team. Teacher guidance is available in connection with distance learning sessions and by contacting the teacher on your campus by email.

Studying the theory section takes place in a Learn environment. Access to the course platform opens on the start date of the course. Distance learning sessions, dates and topics are described in the course's Learn.
Studying progresses by section and learning is independently rhythmized by tasks and repeated by learning tasks..
The course consists of theory studies (4 ECTS) in addition to preclinical practice (1.5 ECTS). The preclinical training section is carried out by campus and a more detailed description of the parts of the implementation is given in the section without campus.

RDI and work-related cooperation

Working life-oriented nursing activities are practiced in small groups on a preclinical training day.
Preclinical training day can include simulations, expert meetings and study visits.

Timing of exams and assignments

At the end of each section, a learning task that repeats learning and competence is completed. The course ends at the time indicated in the implementation data, by which time all learning tasks and other tasks related to the completion of the course must be completed. The course includes a final exam at the Exam.

Student workload

1 credit is 27 hours of student work. 5 credits x 27 hours = 135 hours.
However, the amount of work depends on the study methods and previous knowledge.

Seminar day 6h and preclinical training 6h it happens at school and is mandatory.

Active participation in teaching. Passed exam (1-5) and accepted written assignments.

In addition to seminar day and theoretical studies, participation in Preclinical Training Day.
