Objective
You can provide education and support clients in matters related to partner relationship and family planning.
You can plan, implement and assess the follow-up and support of families expecting a child regarding their health, wellbeing and resources in cooperation with them.
You can assess the health of a mother and foetus and identify risk factors related to pregnancy and childbirth and refer to further treatment if necessary.
You can plan, implement and assess the need for support of the newborn and family as well as increase the participation of the family.
You can confirm motherhood and paternity.
You can plan, implement and assess the follow-up of growth and development of children, in cooperation with the clients.
You can support children and families in choosing health promoting alternatives.
You are able to encourage families in parenting and promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
You are able to evaluate the need for increased support and for a referral to further care.
You are able to maintain and promote a safe community and environment for children in cooperation with families and different interest groups.

What is the service system for maternity care?
What is family planning, sexual and reproductive health?

Course material
Material for theoretical studies.
Study forms and methods
The course includes nine weeks of maternity and child health clinic training.
RDI and work-related cooperation
The training is carried out in maternity and child health clinics.
Timing of exams and assignments
Filling out and returning training-related documents in accordance with the instructions agreed upon at the beginning of the training sessions and/or the beginning of the training.

Student workload
One week includes 38 hours of training. Nine weeks of training is 342 hours.
Further information
It is required that Clinical Nursing I and II and Clinical Nursing Practices 1-4 are successfully completed. Theory studies in maternity and child health clinic work completed. Advanced vaccination knowledge and medical bills 4 passed before the start of the training.
