Objective
You can apply operational models securing patient safety to perioperative nursing.
You master the aceptic practices in your own work, in teamwork and in patient care.
You can apply the most commonly used methods of anesthesia, and are familiar with their indications and basic techniques.
You can use the key nursing and monitoring devices in perioperative nursing.
You master the registration and reporting principles in perioperative nursing.
You can describe the effects of illnesses appearing at various ages on anesthesia and its planning.
You are able to describe the physiology of pain and assess, plan and carry out evidence-based medication.
You are able to assess, plan and administer medication to surgical patients.
You can recognize, prevent and treat surgical and anaestesic complications.
You can describe the key operating methods in specialist surgery.
You can work as a member of a multiprofessional surgical team and as a nurse in the operating room.
You are able to recognize your ethical challenges and responsibilities.
You can act responsibly in maintaining information security and data protection.
You can guide a surgical (elective, emergency) patient so that he/she is committed to the treatment and can act safely promoting his/ her rehabilitation.
You recognize the significance of a patient’s family in rehabilitation.
You master the preoperative and postoperative monitoring and nursing of a surgical patient.
You can carry out intraoperative nursing with support.

How do you ensure patient safety and follow the principles of aseptics in multiprofessional teamwork in the various nurse roles in the operation room?
How do you carry out and assess patient care before, during after anaesthesia?
How do you carry out and assess patient care before, during and after surgical operation?
What are the equipment used in anestesia and in the operation room , and what maintenance actions do they require?
How do you document and report the patient's care at different stages of anaesthesia and operation room nursing?
How do you assess, design and carry out a surgical patient's medical treatment and pain relief?
How do you identify, prevent and manage the complications of surgery and anaesthesia?
What are central operation methods in the different field of surgery?
How do you operate ethically in challenging situations?
How do you operate responsibly in maintaining information security and privacy protection?
How do you guide surgical patients (elective, day surgical, emergency) to ensure they are committed to care, and how do you operate safely and promote their rehabilitation?
How do you support family members of a surgical patient getting rehabilitation?

Laborations and simulations (2ECT) will be done in your own campus.
