What role do communication and interaction play in your studies and the world of work?
What interaction skills are required in your own studies and in your future profession?
How do you search reliable information from different sources and use it ethically?
Which written skills (genres, styles, tools) should you master?
How do you explain your views appropriately in standard language?
How do you prepare and deliver a spoken presentation?
How do you assess your own presenting skills and manage stage fright?
What skills do you need in different group communication situations?
How do you give feedback and use feedback from others?

Study forms and methods
A Week-based Scheduled Track:
You will study in accordance with the schedule and the assignments defined by the teacher. Some assignments are online.
A Work Integrated Blended Track:
The course as a web implementation.
RDI and work-related cooperation
The course involves training in sectoral vocabulary and communication situations.
Timing of exams and assignments
The exams are done as part of the course assignments. The exams and assignments are done during the course.

Communication skills must be completed before you can undertake research methods studies, possible third-year in-depth studies/seminar work and thesis.

1-5
Assessment methods and criteria
Written and oral assignments related to lectures, individual and group work, tests and student activity. Teacher assessment, self-assessment and peer assessment.
The assessment of the course emphasises the criteria b–f.
Qualifications
This course is for native or advanced Finnish speakers (CERF level B2 or higher).
