Objective

You know how to create a good patient care relationship.
You know how to act in accordance with the values and ethical principles of nursing.
You apply the principles of asepsis and infection prevention in nursing.
You are able to monitor and systematically assess a patient's need for care.
You are able to respond to the need for care by using nursing interventions, and capable of documenting structured nursing data.
You are able to report and consult according to the ISBAR protocol.
You know the key procedures and diagnostic tests of clinical nursing.
You know how to assess the patient’s functional status and resources, and implement rehabilitation-promoting treatment.
You are able to function ergonomically.
You know how to plan, implement and evaluate safe pharmacotherapy.
You know how to assess, treat and monitor pain.
You understand the duties and responsibilities of a nurse in ensuring patient safety.
You are able to name aids and nursing supplies in Finnish.

The first week of training takes place at the Savonlinna campus, and the following four weeks are conducted in service homes or nursing homes

RDI and work-related cooperation

Training will be implemented in working life.

Timing of exams and assignments

Learning objectives must be submitted in workseed during 1 week of clinical practice (done in working life environment)

The first week of training takes place at the Savonlinna campus, and the following four weeks are conducted in service homes or nursing homes

The goals for the training are set during the first week of the internship.
The goals are reviewed together with the training supervisor and the student at the training place.
The supervising teacher comments on the goals in Workseed.
The evaluation of the training is conducted together with the student, the training supervisor, and the supervising teacher during the last week of the training.
