Promotion of children’s and young people’s mental health (5 cr)

Objective

• you understand the interactions of various factors connected to state of mental health among children and young people
• you know what mental health services there are available for children and young people
• you can identify the children’s and young people’s needs connected to mental health and are able to guide them to promotive services
• you understand the meaning of educational institution environments in the mental health work among children and young people and know how to promote mental health by developing these environments
• you know how to encounter children and young people and their guardians with respect and how to build up mental health promoting relationship with them

Content

- what factors are connected to mental health among children and young people?
- what kind of mental health promoting services there are for children and young people?
- what kind of interactions factors of mental health have to each other?
- how can I promote the mental health of children and young people in the environments of educational institutions?
- how can I identify the children’s and young people’s needs connected to mental health?
- how I encounter a child/youngster in order to promote her/his mental health by our interaction style?
- how I build up respective interaction with the guardians of the child/youngster

Itsenäinen opiskelu: Simulaatioon valmistautuminen, pienryhmätehtävä ja oman osaamisen vahvistumisen itsearvointitehtävä.

Timing of exams and assignments

Opintojakson aloituksessa on läsnäolovelvollisuus, koska tällöin muodostetaan pienryhmät.

Simulaatioihin valmistavan testin tulee olla hyväkysytty, ennen simulaatioon osallistumista.

Läsänäolovelvollisuus päätösseminaarissa, pienryhmien töiden esittelyt.

Itsearviointitehtävä palautus 30.11.2025 mennessä.
