Objective
You know how human growth, development and learning are defined in developmental and educational psychology.
You understand the uniqueness of human growth and development and learn to pay attention to it in client work.
You know the meaning of educational consciousness and can define the key starting points of your own educational consciousness.

How does developmental and educational psychology define human growth, development and learning?
What factors are connected to personal life course?
How does personal life course appear in client work?
What does educational consciousness mean and what are its parts?
What are the key starting points of your own educational consciousness?
Course material
The study material consists of literature in English and Finnish, which will be announced at the beginning of the course. The study materials used are printed or e-literature available in Xamk's library and possibly also other publications available online.
Study forms and methods
Passing multiple-choice book exams, a reflection assignment and an online discussion on the Learn platform, as well as an essay book exam in Exam. Voluntary participation in teacher-led reading group work in online webinars conducted together with another group on students. Students are required to attend the course opening info.

Student workload
5 ECTS credits correspond to approximately 135 hours of active work to achieve the learning outcomes of the course.
Course part description
The 4 ECTS book exam consists of multiple-choice exams taken on the Learn platform and an essay exam completed in Exam. The 1 ECTS learning assignment consist of an independent reflection task that is completed immediately at the beginning of the course and a group discussion on the Learn platform after passing the exams. Participation in reading group work in online webinars is voluntary and does not accumulate credits.

Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment is carried out in relation to the learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the course. During the course, exams are evaluated numerically on a scale of 0-5, reflection and online discussion assignments are evaluated on a scale of fail/supplement/pass.
