Objective

The common part (3 ECTS cr) for the bachelor's degree students of all programs:
- You know how to use Xamk`s own systems and the most common digital tools in your studies and profession.
- You will be able to create the most common documents, presentations and spreadsheets.
- You know how to work with information security mindset.

The field-specific part (2 ECTS cr):
- You know the most common digital tools and services in your professional field.
- You know how to use appropriate digital applications and utilize your skills in tasks in your field.

Content

The common part (3 ECTS cr) for the bachelor's degree students of all programs:
- Which Xamk systems do you need during your studies?
- Which information and communication technology applications do you need in your studies and profession?
- How to create the most common documents using word processing, presentation graphics and spreadsheets?
- What is meant by information security and how to work securely in your studies and profession?

The field-specific part (2 ECTS cr):
- Which digital tools and services are used in your professional field?
- How do you use digital applications and utilize your skills in tasks in your professional field?

General digital skills 3 cr: Study materials are provided via the Learn platform.

The field-specific 2 cr part will be specified later on.

Study forms and methods

General digital skills 3 cr part of the course is online studies on the Learn and M365 platforms in a joint group with other game design and digital international business students (the implementations XY00EX57-3060, XY00EX57-3059, XY00EX57-3040) between September-December 2025. General 3 cr part is completed by submitting assignments individually by given deadlines. You can however study in pairs or in small teams.

The field-specific 2 cr part will be specified later on.

Timing of exams and assignments

General digital skills 3 cr: The end date of the course is presented in the course details. By this date, all assignments have to be submitted and other course related tasks completed. The recommended time for completion is 2 months (by November 2025).

Student workload

1 ECTS credit equals 27 hours of work by the student including independent study. The final workload depends on student's previous knowhow and study skills.

For General digital skills 3 cr, online 'verkko75' studies you need a computer with internet access, a microphone and a web camera. It is also advised to install the desktop versions of M365 office products. You are given further instructions on the Learn platform.

Assessment: approved/failed
General digital skills 3 cr, online 'verkko75' studies should be completed between September-December 2025, preferably by November 2025. The general part is completed when all tasks are completed according to the instructions and assignments are assessed with a passing grade.

The field-specific 2 cr part will be specified later on.

The common part (3 ECTS cr) for the bachelor's degree students of all programs is implemented online in the Learn environment. In the field-specific (2 ECTS cr) part, the method of implementation is on-site or online studies, according to the degree program's own decision.
