Objective

After completing the course:

You can communicate in simple everyday situations at A1.2 level and are able to apply vocabulary and structures needed in these situations.

You develop your pronunciation and writing skills. You familiarise yourself with Italian customs. You are able to use different tools for learning Italian.

What vocabulary and structures do you need in simple everyday communication situations and how do you use them?

What are the pronunciation and writing rules of Italian?

What features are there in Italian customs?

What tools for learning Italian can you use?

Course material

Study materials are provided by the teacher in class or via the Learn platform.

The materials are made in porject Kivako-> Kivanet and are made by Laura Senni and Päivi Korhonen.

Study forms and methods

• The course is mainly carried out by way of unscheduled online study but it also has 6 scheduled online lessons (oral practicing). The scheduled online lessons entail work in groups and require active participation. Participation in scheduled online lessons is mandatory/not mandatory.
• Studies are carried out on the Learn platform. Access to the platform opens on the starting day of the course. The students must also have a video and audio connection during online lessons.
• Progress is made by completing assignments individually/in groups and taking an exam/exams which are …
• The assessed assignments are completed individually. The assignments must be submitted by the given deadlines.
• Feedback is provided by different methods, in writing and/or orally. Also, peer feedback can be used.

RDI and work-related cooperation

During the classes several client service situations are practiced.

Timing of exams and assignments

The end date of the course is presented in the course details. By this date, the student must submit all assignments, take the required exam and minitest (after every module) and meet all other conditions set for an approved course completion.

• 1 ECTS credits equals 27 hours of work by the student (alltogether 81 hours)

The course consists of three modules, which include grammar, thematic vocabulary, situational exercises (at a hotel, at the airport), pronunciation, and cultural sections.

The modules are:
1. Unità verde: My daily life
2. Unità arancione: Destination paradise
3. Unità viola: Tourists by chance

Assessment methods and criteria

The student’s performance is assessed with reference to the learning objectives and assessment criteria of the course. The course completion requires that all assignments are assessed with a passing grade.
