Objective

You are able to recognise the interrelations of business enterprises and participate in a company's business planning.

You are able to apply your professional knowledge and skills in simulated business decision-making situations.

You are able to analyse the activities of an enterprise by making calculations and using statistical data in order to support decision making.

You are able to work as a member of a team in a simulated business competition and make entrepreneurial decisions when pressed for time and having incomplete information.

Content

How does an enterprise operate, and what are the interrelations of different activities?

How to plan, budget, implement and analyse the activities of an enterprise?

How do the competitors behave and how do the decisions of competitors influence the decision-making of the enterprise?

Course material

Other study materials are provided by the teacher in class or via the Learn platform.

Study forms and methods

• The implementation entails 4 contact lessons on Savonlinna campus and schedule online study. Contact lessons are scheduled in the During contact days. Attendance in the
contact lessons is mandatory.
• The course is carried out within the group's curriculum schedule. The students must complete individual assignments and group assignments. Group assignment(s) is
(are) submitted at least the end of the course.
• The teacher provides guidance during and after contact lessons.
• Feedback is provided by different methods, in writing and/or orally. Also, peer feedback can be used.

RDI and work-related cooperation

Simulation exercises are performed during the course.

Timing of exams and assignments

There is no exam in this course.

The course entails weekly assignments. A project assignment must be completed in a small group by the end of the course.

The end date of the course is presented in the course details. By this date, the student must submit all assignments, take the required exams and meet all other conditions set for an approved course completion.

Student workload

• 1 ECTS credits equals 27 hours of work by the student.
• In a 5-credit course, the student's total maximum workload is approximately 135 hours including lessons, group work and independent study.
