Objective
You can use spoken language at A1-A2 level in everyday situations. You can cope with familiar everyday situations in Finnish.
You can follow conversations on familiar topics in familiar situations.
You can actively develop your speaking and listening skills.
Content
How do you prepare for everyday speaking situations?
What tools can you use in everyday communication situations?
How do you practise the words and structures you need in everyday situations?
How do you develop your listening and speaking skills independently?
Course material
The study material is published on Learn platform at the beginning of the study period. The material includes for example Yle learning materials, news in easy Finnish and openly available online L2 Finnish learning material.
Study forms and methods
The course includes mandatory online classes which include group work. Active participation on online classes is required.
Studying takes place on Learn platform. Access to Learn platform opens on the day the course begins. You can get a link to the meetings on Learn. During the meetings, video and audio connection is required.
The course consists of online classes as well as independent study and group work. The course has weekly assignments. Assignments must be returned within the given schedule.
The course utilizes different feedback methods. In addition to the teacher's written and oral feedback, peer feedback is used.
The course consists of three sections, which are evaluated on a pass/fail scale.

There are weekly assignments in the course.
Student workload
2 ECTS credits correspond to approximately 54 hours of student work. However, the workload depends on study skills and prior knowledge.
