Objective

You can search data from the key social and health care databases.
You can run specified searches and examine the search results in terms of how they meet your needs and, if necessary, correct your own actions.
You can critically read and evaluate scientific publications, taking into account the aspects related to research ethics and reliability.
You understand the principles of scientific writing and you can apply them to your thesis.
You understand the concept of evidence-based practice (EBP), and its importance in social and health care field.
You understand the information theoretical premises for research methods.
You know the key research strategies and methods used in social and health care.
You are familiar with the thesis process as described in Xamk instructions.

What are the central databases used in social and health sciences and how do you search information from them?

What is evidence-based practice in social and health care?

How do you read and evaluate scientific articles and studies?

How do you analyze research papers and how do you make a synthesis of them?

Study forms and methods

Työviikkopohjainen oppimisväylä:
Osallistut työjärjestyksen mukaiseen opetukseen ja ohjaukseen. Opiskelusi rytmittyvät työjärjestyksen mukaisten ryhmätapaamisten ja itsenäisesti tehtävien oppimistehtävien mukaan.

Työhön integroitu oppimisväylä:
Voit nopeuttaa opintojasi valitsemalla opintojakson verkkototeutuksen eli tekemällä opintojakson tehtävät oman aikataulusi mukaan. Tällöin perehdyt itsenäisesti Learnissä olevaan materiaaliin ja teet tarvittavat oppimistehtävät. Oppimistehtävät sisältävät työviikkopohjaisen oppimisväylän toteutukseen suhteutettuna enemmän itsenäistä aiheeseen tutustumista.
