Edistynyt ammattienglanti (5 op)

Tavoitteet

1. Käytät ja kehität työssä tarvitsemaasi englannin taitoasi aktiivisesti. Lisäksi kehität englanninkielistä viestintää organisaatiossasi.
2. Osaat viestiä suullisesti ja kirjallisesti englanniksi ammatillisissa kommunikaatiotilanteissa.
3. Osaat etsiä ja arvioida tieteellisiä ja ammatillisia englanninkielisiä lähteitä ja soveltaa niitä erilaisiin työelämän viestintätilanteisiin.

- käyttää asiantuntevasti ammattikäsitteitä eri tilanteissa
- etsiä tietoa alan keskeisistä tiedonlähteistä
- toimia asiakkaiden, käyttäjien, kohderyhmien kanssa kansainvälisissä yhteyksissä
- viestiä asiantuntevasti sekä johdonmukaisesti suullisesti ja kirjallisesti englanniksi

Study materials are provided by the teacher on the Learn platform. Some material is also produced by students.

Opiskelumuodot ja -menetelmät

• The course is mainly carried out by way of unscheduled online study but it also has three scheduled online lessons. The scheduled online lessons require active participation. Participation in scheduled online lessons is mandatory.
• Studies are carried out on the Learn platform. Access to the platform opens on the starting day of the course. As a rule, scheduled online lessons are carried out in the evening. In addition to having an internet connection, the students must also have a video and audio connection during online lessons.
• Progress is made by completing assignments individually.
• The assessed assignments are completed individually. The assignments must be submitted by the given deadlines.
• The course consists of five parts (1 credit each) which are separately assessed. You can take 1-5 credits depending on your needs.

Tenttien ja tehtävien ajoittuminen

Assignments must be completed by the end of each section of the course. The end date of the course is presented in the course details. By this date, the student must submit all assignments. There is no exam in this course.

• 1 ECTS credits equals 27 hours of work by the student.
• In a 5-credit course, the student's total workload is approximately 135 hours including lessons and independent study.

Toteutuksen osien kuvaus

During the course you will learn professional English needed at work. Your main learning objectives are:

- You can actively use and develop your English skills in your work and professional field as well as develop communication in English in your organisation.
- You can interact in English in different oral and written communication situations in your own professional field
- You can look for and evaluate scientific and professional information in the English sources of your own professional field and are able to apply the information to various communication situations in working life

Your studies include 5 modules
Module 1 - Work and organisation
Module 2 - Research articles
Module 3 - The case
Module 4 - International networks
Module 5 - Presenting the case

Each Module is worth 1 credit. You can take 1-5 credits depending on your needs.

Lisätietoja opiskelijoille

These are master's level studies and require B1+-B2 level skills. For bachelor's level students passing the 5-credit Professional English course is a prerequisite.

The student’s performance is assessed with reference to the learning objectives and assessment criteria of the course. The course completion requires that all assignments are assessed with a passing grade.
