Code: TT00AF42

Credits

5 op

Teaching language

  • English

Objective

You can study and analyse a compressor cooling or a heat pump system with the help of log p, h -diagram. You can recognise equipment and main components and their function in the process. You are familiar with the most common refrigerants and their properties. You can calculate the cooling energy demand of a room or a space in a building and the overheating period in hours per year with a dynamic simulation program. You can utilise free cooling and passiv methods in cooling and in prevention of overheating with solar shading. You can dimension the most common direct and indirect cooling systems. You can dimension the most common heat pump systems and connect them to heating systems. You can calculate the energy consumption of cooling systems and heat pumps according to D5 simplified methods.

Content

how does the compressor cooling process and the heat pump operate?how is the compressor process presented in the log p, h -diagram?how to choose a refrigerant to a system and what kind of legistelation is related to refrigerants?what are the main components and equipment for compressor process?how to dimension and select the pipe sizes and materials to the compressor or to a free cooling systems?how are the cooling power and energy demands calculated with a simulation program?how to avoid or minimise the overheating hours with passive methods like solar shading?how is the D5 method of energy consumption used in energy calclulations?what kind of things are important in dimensioning and selection of heat pumps?
