Objective
You know how to justify the methods and the role of an instructor of adventure education from the perspective of experiential learning theory. You can recognize the professional possibilities of adventure education in the field of civic activities and youth work. You know the laws and regulations that govern the safety of adventure education and you are able to use them in planning and executing your own adventure. You demonstrate your acquaintance with the International Award program and perceive its role in the Finnish youth work sector.

What kind of philosophical and educational theoretical foundations are there behind adventure education and the International Award program? What kind of educational and experiential opportunities do adventures offer and what is required from the instructor? What are the methods that can be used in adventure education? How can you control the risks involved in adventure activities? What is the content of the International Award program?

a) You are able to consistently use professional concepts related to adventure education. b) You are able to search information from key information sources. c) You are able to perceive the different functions in adventure education and the International Award program. d) You are able to work in the environment of adventure activities of your choice and you can describe the activity from an educational perspective. f) You are able to work in a target-oriented manner during different phases of the adventure activity.
