Objective

You are able to express yourself in most common everyday situations both orally and in writing. You have a command of simple phrases, basic clauses and vocabulary (CEFR level A1.1 - A1.2). You are familiar with the most essential grammatical features and you now how to pronounce and spell Finnish.

Content

How to communicate in very basic cultural situations in Finland? What kind of vocabulary is needed in very basic everyday situations, especially in student life? How to use some of the most important basic structures in simple everyday situations? How to pronounce and spell in Finnish?

Accomplishment methods

The course The first steps in the Finnish language is arranged at the entry-level of your studies. The assessment emphazises criteria a–d. Students completed the course successfully are able to

a) use phrases, basic vocabulary and structures (CEFR levels A1.1–A1.2) in simple everyday communication situations. b) look for information from the textbooks and other information sources of the elementary Finnish. c) identify some contexts and interrelated tasks. d) communicate in very simple everyday situations.
