Objective

1. You are able to design air conditioning systems, ie. air-handling units with their different parts, duct work and air terminals, and can also determine the performance characteristics of fans.
2. You manage the main principles of air distribution and calculation of air jets.
3. You know the factors affecting the efficiency of ventilation.
4. You use consistently the terminology of HVAC acoustics.
5. You know the sound sources, sound propagation and sound attenuation steps in air conditioning systems and manage the acoustical dimensioning of air conditioning systems.

Content

How are different parts of the air handling units designed and selected?
What type of duct sizing methods are used and how are pressure losses calculated?
What kind of air distribution methods are used and how do air jets of different temperature behave?
Which factors affect the effectiveness of ventilation?
How are the sound power levels of fans and the noise generated in duct systems determined?
How is sound generated, propagated and attenuated in different parts of air conditioning systems?

Qualifications

Attending the course requires basic knowledge of air conditioning systems and processes.
