- ship's piping construction and fabrication, materials and components, pipework insulation and support
- observation and prevention of corrosion
- general arrangement of shipboard piping systems
- different types of pumps and their principles
- safe work procedures of pumping and heating
- service of pipelines and equipment
- standard drawings and symbols of pipe work.

- manufacturing of pipes and pipelines, materials and associated components
- pipe line drawings and flow diagrams
- common on board pump types
- bilge-, fire- and ballast pump systems
- fresh water, sea water and waste water systems
- heating, steam boiler and ventilation systems, lubrication and fuel systems
