Objective
Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- most common applications of power electronics in ships
- characteristics and dimensioning of and selection criteria for components, and the effect of the protection components on the power grid

Students can
- use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations
- choose appropriate models, methods, software and techniques according to the purpose and justify these choices
- apply critically the ethical principles of the professional field in different situations
In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-III/2 column 4 are used:
- maintenance activities are correctly planned in accordance with technical, legislative, safety and procedural specifications
- inspection, testing and troubleshooting of equipment are appropriate
