Objective
The student knows the foundations of microbiology and immunology and is familiar with the importance of hygiene in nursing. The student applies his/her knowledge of microbiology in maintaining health and preventing illnesses at work. The student is able to follow the hygiene guidelines. The student knows the structure and the position of occupational health care in our health care system and applied parts of the legislation. The student knows the functioning model of good occupational health care and can identify a naprapath’s role as part of developing occupational health care. The student understands the significance of ergonomic counselling for the rehabilitation and prevention of the illnesses of the locomotor system. The student develops educational knowledge in training and counselling.
Content
The defence mechanisms of the body. Bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology. The foundations of epidemiology, prevention of infections and hospital hygiene. Legislation on contagious diseases and prevention of infections. The role of occupational health care in our health care system. Prevention and rehabilitation of the locomotor illnesses from the view point of occupational health care. The foundations of ergonomics. Facilities to assess and change factors loading the locomotor system of an employee.
