Objective

You can act appropriately in a wide range of communication and interaction situations.
You know and can use your university's guidelines for student writing. 
You can search for reliable information and use it ethically.
You can read and interpret texts written by experts and specialists and reference their content in your own text.
You are able to produce texts that are appropriate for the purposes of study and work in terms of layout, content and language proficiency.
You can prepare and deliver a coherent and appropriate expert presentation.
You are able to give and receive feedback and learn from it.

What role do communication and interaction play in your studies and working life?
What communication and interaction skills do you need in your studies and future career? 
How do you search for reliable information and ethically use sources of information? 
What text genres and skills do you need? 
How do you objectively argue your point of view? 
How do you prepare and deliver an oral presentation?
How do you assess your own presentation skills and cope with presentation anxiety?
What skills do you need in different group communication situations?
How do you give feedback and take benefit from feedback?

Accomplishment methods

The Maritime Communication Skills course is at the initial stage of competence. Criteria b to f are the main criteria for the assessment of the course. 

At level 3, students are able to 
b. search for information from key sources in the field, take a critical approach to this information and use it ethically in his/her oral and written communication 
c. perceive and structure tasks and complete them within a given timeframe 
d. and f. communicate appropriately in a variety of situations 
e. use key models of student writing and referencing.
