Objective
Knowledge and understanding of and proficiency in:
- ship stability control
- stability of a damaged ship
- effect of free surfaces of liquids and significance of compartmentalization
- effect of trim and stability on the ship in the event of damage and consequent flooding in a compartment
- measures to be taken to maintain buoyancy and stability in the event of damage to the ship's hull and structures
- IMO regulations, conventions and recommendations concerning ship stability

- calculations of stability and trim of a damaged ship
- methods of increased weight and lost buoyancy
- calculations when grounded and docked
- regulations and conventions regarding a damaged ship

Students can:
- use professional vocabulary and concepts in an expert way in different situations
