Objective

You can appropriately compose emails in English in work-related situations.
You can write a short technical report in English that relates to your duties onboard.
You can prepare and give a presentation in English on a topic closely related to your field.
You are able to discuss in English the factors that most commonly affect the crew’s wellbeing onboard.

Qualifications

Good knowledge of maritime English with a focus on deck crew’s responsibilities.

Accomplishment methods

The student can
a. use professional vocabulary systematically.
b. look for information in the key information sources of the field.
c. identify interrelated tasks.
d. work together with customers/clients, users and target groups.

In addition, competence evaluation according to STCW code table A-II/1 column 4 are used:
- English language nautical publications and messages relevant to the safety of the ship are correctly interpreted or drafted
- communications are clear and understood
