Data acquisition and analysisLaajuus (5 cr)

Objective

Students can acquire user-oriented data required for solving the research problem or developing operations and look for ready data from different sources. Students can analyse a quantitative research material by means of statistical methods and draw conclusions based on the findings. Students can evaluate the statistical significance of the analysis findings.

Content

What data are important for solving a research problem or carrying out a development task? What does user-orientation mean? How are user-oriented methods used and what different stakeholders are involved in them? What kinds of problems can be solved by quantitative methods? What kinds of sampling methods are used in data collection? How is quantitative data collected, measured and described? What printouts are required for the basis of analyses? How is the statistical significance of findings evaluated by means of tests and deduction?

Evaluation
