Objective

You know how to apply exercise methods in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of diseases, functional deficits and psychological and social problems.

You can maintain and improve through exercise your own and your work community members' abilities to work and function.

You can adapt various types of exercise and their possibilities in order to promote functional capacity in various working environments of care for older adults.

You know basic tests of physical performance and functional capacity.

You know how to use tests as part of planning and implementing exercise programmes.

Content

What are the basic methods to assess endurance?

What are and how does one apply functional tests for older adults?

How do diseases affect the planning and implementation of exercise programmes?

How can abilities to work and function be supported by exercise?

What is the role and meaning of physical activity and exercise in society?

What are national guidelines and recommendations for physical activity and exercise?

How can the working methods of physical activity be used to develop the activities of the different operating environments of care for older adults?
