Objective
Students will learn to know and use correct methods to load and discharge different types of vessels using correct international regulations and codes, to place IMO-cargoes to different types of dry cargo vessels and to understand the meaning of inspections to cargo operations. Ability to carry out draught survey and SOLAS Chapter VI grain calculations. Ability to create safe loading and discharging plans to different types of tankers using international regulations, knowing structural principals of tankers and ability to calculate quantity of liquid cargo.
Content
Operating dry cargo vessels and tankers. Cargo planning of different types of vessels. Calculations of cargo quantities of different types of vessels. Grain calculations. Loading and discharging, characteristics and dangers of crude oil, oil products, chemicals and gases. Regulations concerning carriage of these cargoes. Structure and cargo handling equipment of tankers. IMDG -code, BC -code and computer programmes.
