Objective

You have the knowledge of the basic research methods used in Forestry. You are able to use the most common data collection methods, and be critical of the various sources of information. You are able to use qualitative and quantitative research methods for analyzing problems. You apply research methods in the thesis process.

What kind of research work is there in the forestry sector? How is research data acquired and how reliable is the data? How to analyse survey data? How to apply know-how in the thesis process?

Assessment criteria, good (3)

a. You know the principles of forest research and research concepts. b. You are able to access data from existing data sources, and to acquire new material for examination, and you know how to critically evaluate the sources of information. c. You are able to implement qualitative and quantitative studies. e. You are able to apply the research methods of forestry required in the thesis process.
