Community educator's English (5cr)

Objective

Students can actively use the key vocabulary of community educators in English. Students can look for information in professional English sources and apply the information in different situations related to studies and working life. Students can work in different professional situations requiring both spoken and written English skills.

Content

What is the key professional vocabulary of community educators? How to look for information in professional sources and how to apply it? How to use English in spoken communication situations and how to draw up texts for professional purposes? How to communicate and cooperate in English during studies and in working communities?

Qualifications

Attending the course requires English skills enabling academic studies.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

a) Students can use the professional vocabulary of the field systematically. b) Students can look for information in the key information sources of the field. d) Students can work together with customers, users and target groups. f) Students can work as team members in a goal-oriented way. In addition, the assessment of UAS English studies relies on the competence levels defined in the Common European Frame of Reference for Languages and the skill level descriptions drafted by the Finnish UAS’s.
