Perioperative and Acute NursingLaajuus (15 cr)

Objective

You prove your familiarity with acute illnesses requiring treatment and the effects of changes in health status, their care and treatment effectiveness evaluation. You know the nature and nurse requirements of perioperative and acute nursing. You integrate a multi-disciplinary knowledge base of operational nursing. You know the patient preparations for surgery and anesthesia. Prove your familiarity with the operative patient management. Prove your familiarity with the patient's post-operative monitoring and nursing care. Prove your familiarity with the patient's postoperative pain management. Prove your familiarity with the various methods of anesthesia, observation of the patient's condition and wellbeing as well as to management measures intraoperative nursing. Prove your familiarity with the different treatment of surgicalnursing. Apply  the perioperative nursing principles of patient care as a starting point (safety, individuality, universality, continuity, etc.). Prove your familiarity with the management of critically ill patients in intensive care. Apply this knowledge and skills in acting as manager of nursing in different operational environments and the intensive care unit. Confirm the clinical knowledege of acute and perioperate nursing.

What changes a sudden illness or injury caused in patient and relatives? How suddenly ill or injured patient is treated and how they react? What are the ethical issues encountered in acute care? What is the expertise of perioperative and acute nursing? What is the enviroment of perioperative and acute  nursing? What are the key principles of the perioperative and acute nursing? What is pre-operative care? What is post-operative care? What and how to take care of patient before during and after anesthesia? How to plan, implement and evaluate patient care in intensive care? What and how to take care of  patient's surgical care before and during surgery? What are the instruments and appliances which are using in perioperative care and how are they maintained?  

Qualifications

Nursing in different environments 25 ECTS Medical-surgical nursing training 15 ECTS
