Soil Contamination and Remedation (5op)

Osaamistavoitteet

You get familiar with current interdisciplinary topics on soil contamination and remediation. You get familiar with the most topical environmental contaminants (types), where they come from (sources), how they contaminate soils (pathways), what impacts they have on the environment (impacts), how soils interact with them (fate), and finally how to remediate contaminated soils (cleanup). A review of basic soils types will be provided.

What kind of soil types do we have and how to characterise those? How to manage environmental contamination problems in general, and contaminated sites in particular? How to use remediation techniques for various types environmental xenobiotics? How to minimize contamination-related risks?
