Objective
To be able to actively utilise scientific knowledge (evidence-based recommendations, reports) in decision-making for care
To know how to encounter and sustain care-related interaction with a person with mental health and alcohol and drug abuse issues and their family in different care environments in a resource-orientated manner that promotes mental health and prevents disturbances
To understand the impact of mental health issues and alcohol and drug abuse on a person’s and their family’s well-being
To be able to support a client in acute crisis
To be able to plan, execute and evaluate pharmacotherapy for different patient groups

Evidence-based practice
Basic knowledge of the main mental health problems and psychiatric diseases among different age groups
Methods in psychiatric nursing, the therapeutic relationship
Supervision of work
Basic knowledge of substances: alcohol, tobacco, drugs
Methods in care for alcohol and drug abusers and methods for early intervention
Prevention of alcohol and drug abuse in work communities and dealing with risks, damage and problems
