Objective
After the successful completion of the course the student knows the basics of colour and optics can identify the most common natural pigments using analysis charts and indication reactions can measure colour spectra with a spectrophotometer can identify spectra of most common pigments using reference spectra knows the basics of organic chemistry understands the connection between basic knowledge and materials in restoration and their properties knows the basics of FTIR-analysis and knows how to measure FTIR spectra of samples and compare those to reference spectra knows the theory other analytical methods of material research
Content
Colour, optics and natural pigments in theory, making of pigment reference folder, measuring reference pigments with spectrophotometer and interpreting of spectra, pigment analysis in laboratory, the basics of organic chemistry, most important organic material groups in restoration, using FTIR-spectrophotometer and XRF-analyzer in material research, advanced essay on properties and safe usage of organic materials.
