Objective

Students are able to communicate assertively in English in the professional context, paying attention to the demands of the situation, and also in unexpected situations. Students are familiar with the main concepts of the field and can utilise their language skills in tasks requiring expertise. The target level is B2 in the European Framework (CEF) also in work-related situations. The prerequisite for the course is grade cum laude in Finnish matriculation examination, level B2 in the entrance level test, or pass grade in the preparatory course. A student who has been instructed to participate in the preparatory course must pass the preparatory course before they can take the exam for  this course. It is highly advisable to pass the preparatory course before starting this course. After completion of the course the student is able to evaluate their own learning, evaluate the success of communication situations, and apply their skills in new situations is able to efficiently use language tools (eg. Internet dictionaries, search machines, and proof-reading tools) is able to adapt their communication style according to the situation, interlocutor, and language skills of participants. is aware of the impact of culture on communication The student is able to discuss different transportation solutions and supply chains and how to take sustainable development into account in logistics operations describe the operational environment of a company and its stakeholders carry out a company visit in the role of the host and the guest and to make travel arrangements report about the company's financial state by using the key concepts of financial accounting give a professional presentation on a topic related to one's field of study while taking into consideration the specific requirements of an international audience present a company and its products at a trade fair and also act as a visitor at trade fairs  use trade fairs as a means in marketing and networking

learning skills using language tools applying for a job, including description of one’s education and competence email and telephone communication description of a company/organisation writing an abstract of the Bachelor’s thesis independent revision of grammar using Opinaika pages and instructions available in Moodle reinforcing clear and natural pronunciation different modes of transport, supply chains and sustainable development marketing terminology and communication related to trade fairs  financial accounting terminology company forms, operational environment of a company and stakeholder groups company visits

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The targets of the assessment are described in the implementation of the course. Scale: Excellent (5), good (4-3), pass (2-1),  fail (0). Grades 3-5 require language skills in the European B2 level. Active participation in the tuition is a prerequisite for passing the course.Active participation means the following: The student attends 75% of the amount of contact lessons unless the course implementation informs otherwise.  The language lecturers record attendances in attendance registers. A course that is failed due to too many absences cannot be resat by retaking the exam. Instead, the student has to attend the course again. The student makes sure that they have the study material (e.g. the textbook) specified in the curriculum. The student takes part in the activities instructed by the lecturer in the contact lessons.  The student completes the given homework according to the lecturer's instructions and on time.
