Objective

You can regognize and evaluate the health and welfare of the population and the factors connected to them on the individual and community levels. You understand customer rights and participation as a user and developer of health services. You are able to plan, implement and evaluate health promotive procedures and interventions in your work both on individual, group and community level by utilizing your multi-professional networks. You understand the organization and decision-making of national social and health care services as well as the customer's health behaviour and how they connect with the welfare and health of the entire population. You are aware of the contemporary public health problems and the acts reducing health inequalities. You are aware of the basics of health promoting nutrition. You know and understand the meaning of sexual health in different phases of human life.

Content

How is social and health care organized in Finland by both the official, private and third sector? In the field of health promotion, which recommendations direct and frame your work, and how is your work framed by these recommendations? Which factors affect health and welfare of the population? How do you recognize the need for changes in health and welfare practices, how do you define the goals and negotiate the means to achieve these goals together with the client/patient? For your part, how do you promote health and welfare and prevent marginalization? How do you act according to the principles of sustainable development? How do you guide the customer in accordance with nutrition recommendations? How do you instruct the customer with respect to his/her sexuality?
