Objective

You are able to describe the therapeutic effects of massage and apply massage as part of podiatric treatment by using various massage strokes. You are able to mobilise joints of the lower limbs with correct movements and techniques and describe the application areas of mobilisation. You know how to apply mobilisation as part of the podiatric treatment and assess the effectiveness of foot care.  You know how to apply the possibilities of therapeutic exercise to altered functions of the lower limbs. You know how to draw up individual exercise plans to balance the function of client’s muscles of the lower limbs. You are able to report the benefits of exercise carried out in closed kinetic chain and apply them to exercise programmes. You are also able to describe the principles of spiral dynamic exercise and utilise them in the planning of exercises to diminish problems of the foot. You can apply their client education skills when instructing clients and groups. You can assess the results of therapeutic exercise and relate them as part of client’s podiatric treatment. You will know some possibilities of cold, warm and equipment treatements used in podiatry (e.g. ultra sound, electric)
