Objective

After completing the course Nursing in Acute, Emergency, and Intensive Care: - you will have deepened your competence in an evidence-based manner in special issues related to patient care in emergency and intensive care. - you will know how to prioritise care in acute nursing situations - you will have mastered drug calculations, you will be familiar with the key medicine groups used in emergency and intensive care and know how to administer and evaluate the pharmacotherapy of an acutely ill patient - you will understand the impacts of the health and social services reform on the service system in the operational environments of emergency and intensive care - you will understand the operating principles required for sustainable development - you will have analysed the special features related to wellbeing at work and the multi-professional workplace community in emergency and intensive care.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

- Student knows the most common care needs of an emergency and intensive care patient and is able to apply care measures according to the patient’s needs. - Student can calculate the doses of the medicines used in emergency and intensive care flawlessly. - Student systematically uses professional concepts related to emergency and intensive care work and is able to justify activities in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. - Student can apply factors that promote personal and the work community’s wellbeing in the operating environment of emergency and intensive care.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

- Student knows the most common care needs of an emergency and intensive care patient and is able to apply care measures according to the patient's needs on the basis of research-based knowledge and instructions. - Student can calculate the doses of the medicines used in emergency and intensive care flawlessly. - Student uses professional concepts related to emergency and intensive care work expertly and is able to justify activities in accordance with the principles of sustainable development in a versatile manner. - Student can apply factors that promote personal and the work community’s wellbeing in the operating environment of emergency and intensive care and find targets for development.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- Student knows the most common care needs of an emergency and intensive care patient and is able to apply care measures according to the patient's needs of their own accord. - Student can calculate the doses of the medicines used in emergency and intensive care flawlessly. - Student uses professional concepts related to emergency and intensive care work expertly and on a large scale and is able to justify and assess the activities in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. - Student can apply factors that promote personal and the work community’s wellbeing in the operating environment of emergency and intensive care as well as propose developmental needs based on research-based knowledge.
