Objective
This course is part of the Family Health Promotion and Nursing module. After completing the Gerontological Nursing and Pharmacotherapy course, you: - are able to support and assess the health, functional capacity and resources of an elderly person by means and methods of nursing - are able to apply your knowledge of age-related changes in nursing and pharmacotherapy - are able to apply your knowledge of geriatrics in elderly nursing - are able to carry out symptomatic and humane palliative and terminal care work for the elderly - are able to carry out elderly care as part of a multiprofessional team and taking the next of kin into account - are able to utilise welfare technology in elderly care.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
- You recognise the nursing methods used to assess and maintain the health, functional capacity and resources of older people. - You recognize age-related changes when carrying out nursing. - You are aware of what age technology is and how it can be utilised in elderly care. - You recognise the impact of age-related changes on the medication of the elderly. - You know what symptomatic and humane palliative and hospice care is for the elderly. - You know the importance of multidisciplinary teamwork and family cooperation in elderly care. - You know what welfare technology is and how it can be utilised in nursing.

- You use nursing methods used to assess and maintain the health, functional capacity and resources of older people. - You are able to apply knowledge of age-related changes when carrying out nursing. - You are able to describe what age technology is and how it can be utilised in elderly care. - You understand the impact of age-related changes on medication for the elderly. - You are familiar with methods for symptomatic and humane palliative and terminal care of the elderly. - You understand the importance of different actors in multiprofessional teamwork and family cooperation in the service and care chain for the elderly. - You understand the significance of welfare technology and its effects on the quality and customer-orientation of nursing.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
- You apply nursing methods used to assess and maintain the health, functional capacity and resources of older people. - You are able to combine different knowledge of age-related changes when implementing nursing. - You are able to critically evaluate how age technology can be utilised in elderly care. - You will use expert knowledge of the impact of age-related changes on the medication of the elderly. - You critically apply methods to symptomatic and humane palliative and terminal care of the elderly. - You are able to extensively assess multiprofessional teamwork and family cooperation in the service and care chain of the elderly. - You use wellbeing technology in a customer-oriented and goal-oriented manner as part of nursing.
