Osaamistavoitteet
The student gets to know better some different types of text. The student learns more about language in a daily life and work. The student follows discussions based on general knowledge and general experience and reads a wide range of texts, a few pages long. The student also gives some details about familiar themes and communicates about important personal interests. The student uses quite an extensive everyday vocabulary, some common expressions, and idioms as well as several different structures. The student effectively conveys familiar information in the most common forms of written communication. CEFR (Common European Framework Reference level) B1.1, effective basic language skill
Sisältö
This course includes communication, expanding the vocabulary, new structures, and new types of texts. The focus is on different daily and work-related situations in different areas of the language. Grammatical themes covered include more demanding sentence structures and verb conjugation and declension. Communicational situations introduce the most practical and social situations as well as formal discussions. Themes include e.g. sustainable development, culture, history, society, global and current issues. The language of teaching is mainly Finnish. English is used as necessary.

The student - communicates in everyday situations - understands the main points and some details in general speech and text concerning everyday life - writes texts on familiar and everyday topics - uses common vocabulary and phrases - uses common structures

In addition to the lower grade requirements, the student - communicates in common work-related communicative situations - tells about their own background and future plans in different tenses - writes texts based on most common written situations, errors are not annoying - uses a wide basic vocabulary and phrases - uses different grammatical structures

In addition to the lower grade requirements, the student - uses extensive basic language efficiently - uses common cohesive devices - masters the basic grammar structures and uses them independently

Students have the possibility to demonstrate their previously acquired competences, for which they do not have a certificate issued by a higher education institution, by taking the RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) test.
