Objective

Knowledge, understanding and proficiency of:
- generation of electric and magnetic fields and how they are applied to electrical machinery.
- working principles,characteristics and design of transformers, electric motors and generators.
- synchronizing and switching on generators to a ship's electric network.

Content

Working principles and constructions including maintenance of transformers, synchronous machines and DC commutator machines, equivalent circuits. Applications. (STCW A-III/1 ja A-III/2)

Evaluation

Students can
- use professional vocabulary systematically.
- use the key models, methods, software and techniques of the professional field.
- promote teams’ goal-oriented operation.
- justify their actions according to the ethical principles of the professional field.

Study forms and methods

Scheduled track:
You will attend teaching and guidance sessions as specified in the schedule.

Blended track:
Discussion with the teacher and, where appropriate, PSP-planning with your own mentor teacher.
