Objective
Acknowledge, understanding and proficiency of:
- common deck department maintenance works
- work procedures based on occupational safety and environment protection
- occupational safety and environmental risks at shipwork
- pulling strength of ropes, knots and splices used at shipwork
Content
Maintenance, washing and cleaning on board. Occupational and environment safety. Knots, splices and different ropes and their materials, rope specifics.
Course is partially conducted on board the training ship M/S Katarina.

Study forms and methods
Scheduled track:
You will attend teaching and guidance sessions as specified in the schedule. Lectures in class: Deck work's basics, safety issues during deck work, rope features. Training in maintenance, painting, cleaning, metal and rope work on board school training ship m/v Katarina.
